Product details from official sources
Boat (boat.dev, a product by ASCII) provides persistent Linux (Ubuntu) virtual machines built as sandboxes for AI agents, with SSH and SCP access, Docker support inside the VM, a dedicated IPv6 or IPv4 per machine, a 60fps virtual desktop, and fast disk-level forking from snapshots. Sandboxes are managed through a simple CLI (boat new, boat ssh/scp, boat prompt to run Claude or Codex inside, boat fork, boat stop) plus an HTTP API and Python/TypeScript SDKs. Billing is per-second and paused while sandboxes are stopped; there is a 7-day free trial with 25 compute hours, then plans from $20/mo. Sandboxes currently run in EU regions (Germany, Finland, France).
